A creature other than me

There is a creature other than me
Who treads softly in the hallway.
With padded feet she walks discreet
towards sunny spots in which to lay.

There is a creature other than me
Who looks forward to a meal.
Mouth wide open she quits her mopin'
And enjoys a feast ideal.

There is a creature other than me
Whose vanity exceeds my own.
She bathes and preens in settings serene,
and appoints a pillow as her throne.

There is a creature other than me
Who gazes curiously out the window.
She and I watch the birds fly by,
And all the trees and plants grow.
